Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said that her government was closely monitoring the flood situation in the national capital. Teams across the government departments are providing 24/7 assistance to affected people, noted the officials from the CMO.
Outlining the relief measures undertaken by the government, the chief minister said the residents of the flood-affected areas are being continuously supplied with food, water, medical aid, toilet facilities, and other essential services. Fodder is also being provided for cattle belonging to farmers in the affected areas, and residents are being shifted to relief camps wherever necessary, Gupta added.

Reassuring the government’s resolve in dealing with any eventuality, she appealed to the residents not to panic, noting that the Yamuna’s water level is now receding. She said she had instructed senior officials to assess crop damage caused by the floods so that appropriate compensation could be provided to the farmers.
To review the flood situation in the capital and the conditions in affected areas, Gupta on Friday held an online review meeting from her camp office with the Divisional Commissioner and all District Magistrates, issuing clear and necessary directions.
She emphasised that all senior officers have been instructed to maintain round-the-clock vigil in the affected areas and ensure proper arrangements for food, water, medical care, sanitation, and other essential services in relief camps. The chief minister underlined that safeguarding the lives and properties of those impacted by this natural calamity is the foremost responsibility of her government, warning that no negligence will be tolerated.
She added that due to continuous rainfall and flooding of the Yamuna, people residing in the low-lying areas had to be evacuated. Gupta further said that all district magistrates have been given specific instructions to pay special attention to the elderly, women, and children in the affected areas.
